Zola's Room
For this week's research assignment I chose Vikky Alexander. Alexander does work in many mediums including installation and sculpture. This is an example of one of her collages. The artist takes various patterns and images and combines them digitally to create an interior. Her color choices (such as the couch, rug, and carpet) stand out garishly next to the more pleasant textures of photos (the dog, outside, and wallpaper). Because of this pairing, each of her collages has an unsettling and yet beautiful look. The perspective is also slightly skewed in many of her pieces, giving them a surreal and psychedelic sort of vibe.
